According to a statement from JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin, this action aims to prevent certain parents from interfering with the exam process
Furthermore, candidates whose parents are found to breach the directive and intrude will also be disqualified from participating in the exam.
This measure is deemed necessary as it has been observed that many of these intrusive parents are involved in facilitating examination malpractices, while others have previously disrupted the Board’s examinations. Additionally, some individuals disguise themselves as parents to infiltrate the centers and commit various infractions,” the statement explained.
Security personnel will collaborate with CBT owners to ensure the smooth execution of the examination process.
Based on the prevailing national education policy, it’s a requirement that candidates for the examination be at least 17 years old. Hence, it’s apparent that these parents have neglected to ensure their children attend the requisite classes as outlined in the policy. Consequently, they accompany their children to examination venues with the intention of compromising examination officials.
Clearly, these parents merit sanctions for attempting to bypass regulations by enrolling underage children for the examination.
The examination is being conducted across 700 CBT centers nationwide. While the board anticipates a smooth process, it has made adequate arrangements to address any technical issues that may arise during the examination.
In the event of technical challenges in a session, candidates in subsequent sessions will proceed with their examination as scheduled. Those affected by the technical glitch will be rescheduled for the last session of the day, the following day, or as per the center’s arrangements.
Candidates are urged to take note of this information to ensure they remain calm in case of any disruptions. It’s essential that any candidate or parent who causes disruption in subsequent sessions due to issues in their own session understand that they will be immediately disqualified from participating in the examination.
